Kyra Sarakosti, a traditional Greek custom associated with Lent, the fasting period before Easter.
Kyra Sarakosti is a handmade figure, usually made of paper or dough, depicting a woman with her arms crossed in prayer, without a mouth (symbolizing fasting), and with seven legs, representing the seven weeks of Lent. Each Saturday, one leg is cut off, and the last leg is removed on Holy Saturday.
This was a traditional way for Greek families to count down the weeks of Lent before Easter.
